International excellence is the focus of the university’s vision, and as a result high priority is attached to the quality of teaching and research and to outcomes for graduates. The proportion of the university’s graduates accepted into fulltime employment is among the highest in Australia, and graduates consistently have the best success rate in gaining full-time employment when compared with graduates from other Western Australian universities. The university’s teaching staff help provide a learning environment that stimulates creativity and innovation. They are supported by quality teaching facilities and computing facilities that link staff and students with the wider world of learning and research. More than a third of the university’s academic staff gained their first or second degree outside Australia, and the university has a high proportion of staff with doctorates. The quality of the university’s teachers, researchers and students is benchmarked against that of other national and international higher education communities. The University of Western Australia experience is much more than just a training ground for employment. In a garden setting just five minutes from the centre of the Western Australian capital, Perth, students enjoy outstanding academic, sporting and cultural facilities on a campus renowned for its social life.
